Welcome to our section of the college's website.
The aim of this article is to describe the ways governors influence the life of Springwell College as well as providing a more detailed guide to the way in which our governing body works.
Like every school governing body we set the aims and objectives of the college and monitor the progress the college makes towards those goals.
We strive to ensure each student works hard with the college and enjoys reaching his or her full potential, so that students leave us well equipped to move further towards their chosen career. We are accountable and open to the public and we intend that Springwell Community College and its partner schools play an important part in the regeneration of Staveley and Brimington.
Governors do not take any part in the daily running of the college and our role is often expressed as being a critical friend to the college. For those interested in more details, please go to the role of the governing body page.
Every school's governing body is made up of people representing the different parties interested in their school and none of the governors are paid. We often have difficulty filling vacancies forgovernors, as you can read further in the website.
We meet regularly in various groups as you will see from the calendar of meetings and are supported greatly by both our Headteacher and Local Education Authority.
Governors are both immensely proud of Springwell College's achievements and are very aware of the progress still to be made. Our recently retired Headteacher, the Acting Headteacher, and staff have gained the governors respect for the accelerating progress that the college has made.
